Tina Fey To Join The Muppets... Again

Ryan Dosier - Of all the stars, writers, and creators of NBC's 30 Rock, Tina Fey is by far my favorite. With the show currently airing its seventh and final season, Tina Fey will certainly be looking for new ways to make the funny for the people. Well, she didn't have to look for very long, because The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Fey is in "late-stage negotiations" to star in the next Muppet movie as the human female lead!

According to THR's sources, Tina Fey's character will be a Russian gulag prison guard... which is absolutely hysterical. My sources tell me that this prison guard character will fall for Kermit... hard. But that's all I know about the role. Hopefully Tina Fey signs this contract because I think she will be absolutely perfect with the Muppets.

If she does sign (and she probably will), Tina Fey will be joining Ricky Gervais and Ty Burrell as the third and final human lead in the next film. Gervais is playing the main human character (comparable to Jason Segel's Gary in The Muppets) and Ty Burrell is playing a  European Interpol inspector. Of course, it's also practically a guarantee that we'll see numerous celebrity cameos in the movie as well.
In big news that we can exclusively confirm, SlashFilm is reporting on the working title for the next movie. Says SlashFilm, "According to our source, it’s going by the title The Muppets… Again." I can confirm that this working title is correct via my source as well. I don't know about you, Muppet fans, but I really love The Muppets... Again as the title. It's SO much better than The Muppets 2 and short, quick, and to the point. It's also pretty Muppety, in my opinion.

But for now we can all (hopefully) agree that Tina Fey is a fantastic choice and a very funny lady. Anyone who watches 30 Rock knows that Tina Fey and her staff love the Muppets, because the show has had a crazy amount of Muppet references. Need a fine example of Tina's work with the Muppets? 3. I thought Tina said she didn't want to do any more kids stuff? (I mean, I know the Muppets specifically for kids, but we know that that's they're largest demographic).

I just hope she puts her glasses back on for the movie.

  4. Plus, Kermit actually appeared in a somewhat-recent episode of 30 Rock, where when Jack Donaghy's mother dies, at the eulogy, Kermit explains the after life.
"And thank you, Kermit, for telling all of us about the afterlife."
"Well, thank you, Jack Donaghy, for being the man we all aspire to be."
