Disney Announces Angus McGonagle Thrill Ride

For years we've been waiting and waiting for Disney to get off their mousey butts and put more Muppet attractions into their theme parks. Considering that Muppet*Vision 3-D is the only Muppet-themed attraction in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, the presence of our fuzzy friends is severely lacking.

Well, that's all about to change as Disney today announced that they are again rethemeing their incredibly popular "Star Tours" attraction to showcase the star power of one Angus McGonagle. Yes, the argyle gargoyle who gargles Gershwin is about to become a fixture of the Disney Parks! Only a little bit of information has surfaced with this exciting announcement, but we've found out just a few of the exciting scenes that will feature prominently in the ride:
  • Dodge saliva bullets as you rocket past Angus McGonagle and Mark Hammil gargling
  • Enjoy a relaxing flight as Angus croons "Springtime" in the background
  • Defeat Dearth Nadir with the help of Angus and Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue"
  • Knock the other, more talented acts off stage with relentless gargling of selections from "Porgy and Bess"
These are just four of the exciting options coming soon to Disney Parks and their new attraction "Angus McGonagle's Glorious World of Gargles" (tentative title). As of right now there is no word on other Muppets appearing in the attraction with Angus. However, it doesn't seem likely. A spokesperson for Disney had this to say, "Sure, we could do more with Kermit, Gonzo, Animal, and the other beloved Muppets, but Angus McGonagle is such a strong, universally known and understood character that we figured why bother?"

And really, what more needs to be said? Why bother indeed.

On a more serious note, I'd love to see Angus in The Muppets 2... seriously, he has one of the most hilarious concepts of any Muppet and needs more love.
