First Official "Muppets Most Wanted" Videos
Disney is ready to teach you all about the word synergy with the first official videos from the set of Muppets Most Wanted (or The Muppets Most Wanted, no one is really sure). These two videos feature Kermit and Miss Piggy as they interact with Disney Channel sensations and apparent cameo guest stars Ross Lynch and Debby Ryan. Normally, I'm not a fan of Disney Channel people shoe-horning their way into Muppet stuff, but these two seem pretty decent and their parts seem VERY small, so it could be worse. Anyway, watch the videos for some very brief snippets of Muppet footage including Kermit in an awesome gold tux!

News Update: April 5, 2013
Are you ready to hashtag your cares away, Muppet fans? Yesterday The Jim Henson Company started an official Twitter account for Fraggle Rock (handily choosing the username @FraggleRock). They haven't tweeted much yet, but there is promise of more Fraggle goodness to come--in 140 characters less, that is.
In news that might make you tear up, after the passing of co-founder of the Muppets Jane Henson, the Smithsonian American History Museum has decided to pay tribute in their own meaningful way. The Kermit the Frog puppet they have on display at the museum now sports a black armband in honor of Mrs. Henson. Check out the picture at right (click it to make it bigger) to see this wonderful tribute for yourself. It is a simple honor for a great woman, who worked a lot with the Smithsonian for exhibits like Jim Henson's Fantastic World and who donated the original Sam & Friends puppets to the museum recently.
A few weeks ago we reported that Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and Animal would be appearing on the Disney Channel sitcom Good Luck Charlie on April 28th. Well, the fine folks at Entertainment Weekly have an exclusive clip from the appearance. In the clip, Kermit sings part of a brand new song written for the episode called "Dream House." The clip isn't terrible, so here's hoping the appearance isn't either!
Last week at a Disney Parks merchandising event, Disney showed off some new figures coming to the Parks for their annual Star Wars Weekends. This year those figures will include two brand new Muppet sets, including Uncle Deadly as Emperor Palpatine and Bean Bunny as an Ewok. Uncle Deadly also comes with Gonzo as Darth Vader and a chicken as an imperial guard. Deadly and Bean look fantastic and a definite must-buy for me! No word yet on when the figures will be released or how much they will cost.Finally, in cameos for The Muppets... Again news, the folks over at BleedingCool.com are reporting that singer/songwriter/dancer/actor Usher has filmed a cameo for the movie. The article says that Usher's cameo part involved dancing with Sweetums, which could be hysterical and awesome--and very Muppet Show-esque. Just another reason to get excited for The Muppets... Again!

News Update: March 8, 2013
Late Tuesday night news came out that Disney would be using its expert cross-promotional techniques on the Muppets once again. Access Hollywood reported that the Muppets will apepar on Disney Channel's hit show Good Luck Charlie on April 28th. According to the official synopsis for the episode, "The Duncan Family decides to build their dream house after the family home is devastated by termites. Everyone, with the exception of Charlie (played by Mia Talerico), is excited at the prospect of a new and larger home. However, Teddy (Bridgit Mendler) has a change of heart after a dream in which Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and Animal convince her that the old family home is really the house of her dreams." It sounds like it could be a fun appearance for Kermit and the gang.While on the set of Good Luck Charlie, Access Hollywood talked to Miss Piggy about her appearance on the show and filming The Muppets... Again. The interview is fantastic and Eric Jacobson continues to be perfect as Piggy. My favorite part of the interview comes when Piggy refers to Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey as "background actors." Spectacular. Watch the video below!
Our good friends over at ToughPigs.com have all the news on the kids' portion of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Why do we care? Because Sesame Street is going to play a big part in the festival this year. Head over to ToughPigs for the entire Sesame-related schedule, which includes panels featuring Maria and Murray Monster and their friends/same people Sonia Manzano and Joey Mazzarino, which are sure to be exciting. It's been awhile since Fraggle Rock saw a DVD release, but the fine folks over at TVShowsonDVD.com have some great news for those who missed out on the series on DVD the first time around. Series sets will be released on DVD periodically throughout the year (Season 1 on March 12; Season 2 on April 16; Season 3 on May 14; and Season 4--tentaively--on June 18). Perhaps most exciting is the 30th Anniversary Collection, also released on May 14th, which comes with all four seasons on DVD, a Red Fraggle plush keychain, the complete Animated Series, and a new Fraggle graphic novel. The cost is reasonable for two complete series, and the new box art is pretty great (see right). No word if new bonus features will be included... but the world can hope.
In other odd Fraggle news, the Jim Henson Company seems to be bringing their long in development children's TV series, Doozers, to television. An official video preview for the show was released on YouTube by our friends at Muppet Newsflash. I'm not sure how I feel about the video... it seems pretty confusing so far, but hopefully it will be much less confusing when it finally airs sometime in 2013. Enjoy the video below!
Finally, in hugely exciting and momentous (for many reasons) news: Sesame Street's YouTube Channel yesterday became the first ever non-profit organization to reach over 1 billion views! They promised to celebrate with a top-secret video, which they released yesterday. It stars Count von Count, performed for the first time since Jerry Nelson passed away. The Count is performed here by the amazing Matt Vogel, who does a nearly flawless job. The characterization, movement, and excitement is perfect. The voice is nearly uncanny. There are moments where Matt emulates Jerry's voice so perfectly, he could fool anyone. I am so thrilled and proud of Matt for this video and for taking over Count von Count. No one could do better. This past weekend on ABC Family, an exclusive "All Access First Look" at The Muppets aired during the Disney animated classic Beauty and the Beast. Miss Piggy hosted the event, constantly asserting that this was "her" movie--with all the other weirdos as well. To finish off the event, they showed an exclusive clip from the film. You can check out the whole thing below!
As if that weren't enough, the very next day the Muppets appeared on Disney Channel during airings of tween comedies Good Luck Charlie and Shake it Up! to show off their "Muppet Movie Star Secrets." The segments aired during commercial breaks and showed Kermit and Miss Piggy offering their celebrity advice to the cast of Disney Channel's A.N.T. Farm. It was a pretty cute appearance... and once again you can see it all below! (Thanks to our friend Chris Stulz for both of these videos!!)
A spectacular interview with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem surfaced recently on WhatsThatDudePlay.com. The interview is incredibly well-written, in character, and hysterical. I honestly can't remember the last time Dr. Teeth was written so perfectly. Be sure to read it all the way through! Every answer is truly a gem. By the way... how incredible is it that we're seeing an interview with the Electric Mayhem?! Has that ever happened? I don't know... but I know I want to see it happen again.The other day we linked to 14 brand new interviews with the cast of The Muppets from Coming-Soon.net. Well, as it turns out, there are even more interviews to be seen! This time the fine folks at tapedimension on YouTube have posted some fantastic Muppet content over the past few days, including three full parts of B-Roll footage from behind the scenes of the film (beware of major spoilers) and those previously mentioned interviews with producers David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, and Martin Baker, writer Nicholas Stoller, choreographer Michael Rooney, and... wait for it... Uncle Deadly!! The interview with the unbelievable Uncle Deadly is below. Make sure you watch.
The YouTube channel for Walt Disney Pictures Australia recently uploaded another semi-parody, mostly accidental, trailer for The Muppets. This time, the Muppets take on beloved tropes of Bollywood cinema, and end up carrying it through to the end, even after realizing that it was a typo and should have said "Hollywood." Check out the trailer for singing penguins, lots of dancing, and Muppets! (Plus, Gonzo's dream of going to Bombay, India and becoming a movie star is sort of, kind of coming true!)
Some attendees at the Savannah Film Festival in Georgia were treated to a surprise screening of The Muppets as the Director's Choice film for the entire festival. Most of the audience at the festival was critics or film snobs (in a good way), so this was a great outlet for Disney to test the waters and see what sort of market The Muppets truly has. Well, lucky for Disney, the reviews that have come out of the Film Festival screening have been 100% positive. Chud.com posted a quick, highly positive video review immediately after seeing the movie, and have promised a full review soon. Meanwhile, the official review for the Film Festival was written by Susan Kemp, who, in the article, calls herself a "Grinch." Even so, she was immediately and completely charmed by the film and gave it a glowing review. Both of these are spoiler free, so be sure to read them to get a perspective on the critic's views! Also on that note, look out for The Muppet Mindset's exclusive review of The Muppets tomorrow!! Ryan Dosier will be seeing it tonight and will share his thoughts with the internet at large for tomorrow's post. (Perhaps even at 11:11am on 11/11/11?)On Tuesday night, the Muppets teamed up with Google + to host a "Hangout" event on YouTube with Kermit, Miss Piggy, Jason Segel, Walter, James Bobin, and Nicholas Stoller all showing up for attendance to talk about their new movie for 17 minutes straight. The live-linking of the feed was a little choppy due to such a high-volume of hangers out (which can only be a good thing), but the Frog, the Pig, the Walter, and the Segel were all fantastic and fun. Those cool cats (note: I have no idea if the company is actually run by cats) over at Threadless.com have printed 25 Muppet t-shirt designs from their recent contest (the contest which brought us James Carroll's Muppetational Mosaic t-shirt). Some of the shirts they decided to print are absolutely awesome (and I absolutely must have them) and some are just sort of "meh," but either way, it's fantastic to see Muppet fan artists rewarded in an official fashion! Jason Segel appeared on The Tonight Show on Tuesday and talked for quite a bit about his exuberant Muppet fandom. Segel delivered a fantastic, honest, charming interview and, for me at least, solidified once and for all why he is the exact right person to be helming the Great Muppet Renaissance (patent pending) that The Muppets is bringing us in just a few weeks. Promotion for The Muppets is ramping up very quickly, so expect to see Muppets everywhere (except in your closet, unfortunately). First up, Kermit recently filmed a commercial for the celebrity-heavy ad campaign of Wonderful Pistachios. You can check out Kermit's cute TV spot (that you'll surely be seeing all the time on while watching your shows) right here:
On October 2nd, Miss Piggy will be returning to Disney Channel on their extremely popular sketch comedy show So Random! (think SNL for 14 year olds). Piggy will be playing herself as the big, celebrity guest star for the show who everyone on the show attempts to appeal to. You can see the promo for the episode here:
And in extremely random Muppet appearance news, the Muppets will be appearing on the wrestling program WWE Raw on October 31st to promote the movie. The official WWE website provides this little bit of information on the upcoming appearance, "What will happen when Kermit the Frog meets The Viper? Will the Divas make Miss Piggy flip with jealousy? Will Beaker be confused for Sheamus? On Halloween, it's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights, because the Muppets are about to get Raw!" I don't really know what any of that means, but this has the potential to be a very fun and funny appearance!
The Museum of Moving Image in New York City, which is currently playing host to the wonderful Jim Henson's Fantastic World exhibit, is having a fun celebration for Jim's birthday on September 24th. Here is a breakdown of what's occurring on the 24th, for more information visit the museum's website:- At 1:00 p.m. in the Main Theater, attend the special program “Muppet Music Moments,” with special introductions by Craig Shemin, President of The Jim Henson Legacy, and Bonnie Erickson, Executive Director of The Jim Henson Legacy and designer of Miss Piggy, along with special guest speaker Larry Grossman, music consultant for The Muppet Show. This special 77-minute compilation features performances by Harry Belafonte, Elton John, Linda Ronstadt, and other Muppet Show guest stars, in a wide range of musical genres—classic music numbers interpreted as only the Muppets can. Tickets are free with Museum admission and will be distributed first-come, first-served. Museum members may reserve advance tickets. (This compilation program will also be presented on Sunday, September 25, at 1:00 p.m. with Larry Grossman in person).
- Receive a custom-designed commemorative cookie featuring Kermit the Frog’s signature foot prints (as long as supplies last). These artisanal cookies were produced especially for the Museum by Bonne Fete Baking, Inc. and You Cake, Inc., two Queens-based small businesses that operate at the Entrepreneur Space, a partnership of the Queens Economic Development Corporation and Mi kitchen es su kitchen.
- Watch a special episode of The Muppet Show in which the cast celebrates Kermit the Frog’s birthday. The 22-minute program will screen continuously in the Museum’s Fox Amphitheater in the Education Center and is included with Museum admission.
- Write a personal message and sign your name in a commemorative journal that will be given to The Jim Henson Legacy for their archives.

On the site, you'll find Characters (descriptions/pages for Kermit and Piggy, with others coming soon), About the Movie (The Story, The Cast, The Crew [coming soon]), Video Clips (just trailers for now, but more probably coming soon), a picture Gallery, Products (currently only selling The Green Album, but Movies, Toys, Books, Apparel, Beauty, Designer Apparel, Kitchen, Electronics, and Sationary coming soon), Games (Coming Soon), and Downloads (Coming Soon). There currently isn't too much to see on the site, aside from a few cool new pictures if you know where to look, but there is certainly a ton coming very soon as promotion heats up.
